In 2003, the Toronto firm Hariri Pontarini Architects won a competition for the Baha’i Temple of South America in Santiago, Chile, with a nine-sided design featuring petal-like elements that twist and rise to a central oculus.

Located in the foothills of the Andes in Santiago de Chile, the Baha'i House of Worship South America will open its doors from October 2016 and will welcome all people of the city and its surroundings, the rest of the continent and from anywhere in the world who wish to know, go their gardens or participate in activities that take place there.
This House of Worship, adding to the Houses of Worship of the other continents, is a meeting place that promotes unity through free participation in acts of prayer and service, in a serene atmosphere devoid of rituals or ceremonies.Read more here.
